マスデバリア・ヴィーチアナ（ビーチアナ）
（以前、この写真のマスデバリアを同定間違いによりマスデバリア・イグネアの学名で紹介していましたが、マスデバリア・ヴィーチアナに訂正させていただきます。お詫び申し上げます）ヴィーチアナはペルー西北部の2000-4000ｍに分布、通常は地生、時に岩生や着生状態で見られます。空中湿度の高い夏涼しく冬は寒くない地域に自生します。このような地域の植物は不定期咲きになります。ペルーではガロガロと呼ばれ、鶏の鶏冠(鶏冠)を意味します。種小名のヴィーチアナは英国のプラントハンターで植物取引業を営んでいた有名なヴィーチ商会の名に因み本種は1867年に紹介されました。同商会は1281種の植物導入をしましたが、その中に232種のランが含まれています。
（On this page this species was introduced misidentified name, Masdevallia ignea) M.veichiana is found at an elevation of 2000-4000m in nw.Peru and is terrestrial or rarely epiphytic orchid. It usually grows in full sun however leaves are protected by the grass.
It loves cool condition in summer. In Peru it is known as gallo-gallo, meaning "rooster" after the rooster's red crest.
Veichiana is named after the famous Veitch Nurseries in England, by whose plant hunters it was discovered in 1867.
